The Empire's history goes back many, many years to the ancient Germanic Empire.  Along with it's fellow brethren in the form of the Nords and Alterians, the Yeutonics departed to set up a colony for the original Empire.  When the Empire ended up dying off, the Yeutonics split off from their brethren, and birthed the first Reich, which resembles it's father.  The first and second Reichs were very similar in that they were mostly unions of different nations.  In between them was also a similar union, but alot more disoriented than the Reichs, before and after.  Right before becoming the third Reich, there was also a minor republic, which fell quickly when the people simply chose to have a dictator in power.  After voting in what would become the Fuhrer, the government followed a new style, and slowly became the infamous Reich.  After gaining their new name, the Reich immediately began to expand outwards, and managed to gain most of the land that it would hold during the Reich-Alliance war.  When the Alliance defeated the Reich, the loss of their Fuhrer caused a schism.  After three nations emerged, the Empire was officially formed to help bring them together after this loss.

PostSubject: Cultures of the three nations   The (Yeutonic) Empire Icon_minitime1Mon Dec 09, 2013 1:21 am

The Hanseatic League
Most people of the League's main nations are in what they would call the "fast lane."  The Corporations of the League capitalized on social media, implementing features that are more common in phones like calling, along with other features such as web access and other features into tiny devices that they install onto glasses of various kinds.  Spectacle contributes to a major part of Hanseatic society, and the Corporations will do everything they can to keep up this hedonistic lifestyle in their citizens.  The only exception is their mercenary forces, who are trained from birth to protect and find new assets for the Corporations, even if it may cost them their lives.  The Mercs are prohibited from joining in on the hedonistic lifestyle, only being allowed near the hedonistic places within the League if there is internal fighting, or if the enemy has broken through the front lines, and made it to the areas where these places are located.  While marriage is allowed, it is generally taboo to marry outside of the mercenary ranks.  As for the other (minor) members of the league, they all have their own cultures, and very few adopt the hedonistic lifestyle held by the citizens of the main nations.

The Varna Kingdom
The kingdom is the more religious of it's brethren, and with that comes special religious rules.  One of the laws of the Kingdom is that females must dress "conservatively" within the Kingdom.  However, outside of the two main religious cities, the law is rarely enforced, only being enforced when something goes over the line.  Another religious aspect of the Kingdom is that it still employs a caste system of it's own kind, where the Religious leaders rank at the top of the list, with kings and soldiers ranking just below them, and artisans and other civil workers are below them.  Besides the other religious laws, the Kingdom is still pretty conservative in other cultural aspects.  An example would be that, while they are still advancing their tech level in an attempt to shadow the League, most citizens still prefer heading to large meetingplaces, such as markets in larger cities, to meet and talk with their friends about various subjects.  Joining the military is completely optional within the Kingdom, except for those born into the rank.  Slavery takes a major part in the Kingdom, especially when it comes to mining and farming.

The Social Republic
In the Republic, one's family is very important, and it's often suggested that families birth as many children as possible to boost the strength of the Republic.  In conjunction with that, the mother takes on an important role in the Republic, like her husband.  The mother's role is to take care of her children, and if the need arises, the Republic will hand over a paycheck to help with feeding and clothing the children.  As the children go into school, their work is monitored the district's bureaucracy, and they continue to modify the children's classes in a subtle manner to prepare them for their future job in the Republic.  Generally, citizens of the Republic don't watch anything within the entertainment industry, unless they save up the money to do such.  Now, while that is the case for watching entertainment such as films, most families tend to have a television or radio in their home that they give to their descendants when they come of age.  Military service is a requirement in a certain age range, and after that it's completely voluntary, and the Republic tends to have citizens become factory workers after their time in the military service is up.

A Reich, reborn from the ashes - Reich/Imperial end
Despite everything the Alliance did in the first Reich-Alliance war, the Empire ended up reuniting with it's lost parts.  With Bethany von Lazarus seeing this as a chance to get back at Firesong, she took on the guise of the Emperor, and convinced the majority that this was the time to strike against the Alliance for the horrors that they brought with them when they won the Reich-Alliance war.  Regardless of their fate, the Yeutonic citizens joined the Military, viewing it as the only way to regain what they had lost.  With this additional backing, Belkra once again screamed a warcry, and started the second Reich-Alliance war.

The heir to the Reich - Hanseatic League/Federation end

One Empire under the Vishnu - Varna Kingdom end

Coming full circle - Social Republic end
Thanks to all the support the Alliance gave, the Social Republic joined peacefully with it's brethren.  While things went peacefully at first, the new leader's reign began to turn for the worst.  He remembered how the Social Republic initially started their revolution, and in an attempt to finally bring peace to the Yeutonics, increased military watch over the factories.  When dispute occurred over the internet connection of the Republic, the Bureaucracy responded by increasing the price of connection, to a point where the common person can't even communicate to one another.  In another attempt to promote peace, the Republic developed it's own version of the Gestapo, the Stasi, to monitor people.  In the end, they viewed the Alliance as a threat to their power, and kicked any Alliance citizens, while closing the border and locking up all immigration centers.  In the end, they become the thing that they fought against, reaching a full circle.
